Early Intro to the Nursing Profession Program

  • EINP 2024 cohort

The Early Introduction to the Nursing Profession (EINP) is a summer program, held by the UConn School of Nursing for high school students interested in a career in nursing.

Students have the opportunity to be mentored by UConn School of Nursing faculty and students, gain knowledge of university requirements and awareness of the nursing profession, learn what courses are necessary to prepare for college level education, and be introduced to the college environment. Students also have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on learning experience in the Simulation Lab, visit a hospital and shadow a nurse, and even taste some of our famous treats from the UConn Dairy Bar!

There is no cost to attend this program.  More information will be coming in the Spring.

We hope that you’ll join us next summer!  We can't wait to meet you!

Reviews for the EINP Program

Thank you very much for all of your efforts in coordinating the information about the EINP Nursing Program.  Everything ran very smoothly and all the participants were very well prepared for this program.
My daughter loved every aspect of this program and couldn't wait to come home and tell me about her whole day She was very excited about all the things she was able to learn in a short period of time. Thank you so much for allowing her this incredible opportunity It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for providing such a valuable program to our students today! It was very beneficial for them to learn more about UConn Nursing School, and the EINP. It was a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to coordinating the EINP application process with our interested nursing school students. - High School Guidance Counselor, 2024-2025 Academic Year

I loved how hands on it was and all the different activities. It exposed us to different types of nursing and it was so much fun. Helped me narrow down my interests and was such a great experience!! - Student, Summer2024

I liked the simulation labs and getting to get hands-on experience with Daphne, Harvey, and the babies. It was really helpful to act out what nurses do everyday. - Student, Summer 2024

I love being able to shadow nurses for the first time because I've always dreamed of being one. Second I loved meeting new people and making new friends who are interested in being in the same profession as me. - Student, Summer 2024

I liked the opportunities provided to us. I really liked how we were given the ability to see the sim labs as well as shadow nurses. I also think becoming CPR certified is a must so I am very grateful this program had that asset. - Student, Summer 2024
