Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts

In keeping consistent with national best practices, UConn will be implementing the use of metal detectors at all graduation ceremony venues in 2023.  The metal detectors have been utilized at Gampel Pavilion for several years and will be added at Jorgensen and the Student Union.  Event staff will assist with entry through the detectors and are versed in efficiently getting everyone into the venue.  There is no need to take any special steps, as venue guidelines regarding prohibited items should be followed.

Photography

There will be professional photographers at the ceremony taking photographs of candidates as they receive their diploma covers (the diploma will be mailed by the Registrar’s Office in a few months).  Graduates will receive proofs following Commencement, if they choose to, order prints.

No tripods will be allowed in the Jorgensen.  Members of the audience using handheld cameras may take pictures during the ceremonies from areas reserved for that purpose.  In order to accommodate everyone, individuals are requested to move to those areas for only a short interval and then return to their seats.  Guests will not be permitted on the stage or the pathways of the candidates.

Traffic

Parking can be in either the North (closest) or South Garage.   You will need to allow time to arrive on campus, park, and be seated in the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts.  People may be dropped off in front of the Jorgensen Center.  The Jorgensen Center front entrance is on Hillside Road and is handicap accessible.
