Dr. DeSanto-Madeya is a nationally recognized leader in palliative and end-of-life nursing, bringing a strong record of scholarship, funded research, and global engagement.
Her work includes an NIH-funded RO1 focused on equity in family caregiver engagement in serious illness care, an NIH funded study on patient-centered medication review in home hospice and a Hillman Foundation–supported project using Photovoice to help individuals and families align goals of care during serious illness. She has been honored as a Cambia Health Foundation Sojourns Palliative Care Scholar Leader and has presented and consulted internationally.
Dr. DeSanto-Madeya is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a Fellow in Palliative Care Nursing. She is an active member of key professional organizations. Her work continues to shape best practices in serious-illness care and enrich the educational experience for the next generation of nurses.
