Margaret M. McCarthy conducts research that is informed by experiences as a family nurse practitioner and exercise physiologist. Her primary focus is on research that assesses and promotes cardiovascular health, with an emphasis on physical activity, in high-risk populations including those with type 1 and 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors. Dr. McCarthy has extensive experience teaching in both DNP and PhD programs. As a family nurse practitioner, she travels annually to Belize with a volunteer organization to provide medical care to families in remote villages who have little access to routine healthcare.
