Kendra Chmura
Clinical Instructor
Kendra Chmura is a clinical instructor at the UConn School of Nursing. Kendra has been a pediatric emergency department nurse since graduating from St. Joseph College in 2007, where she developed a passion for nursing education through working with new graduate nurses. Since graduating with her MSN with a focus in education in 2014, she worked for 5 years in nursing education at Yale New Haven Hospital as well as adjunct faculty in the academic setting teaching clinicals at UConn and various nursing schools throughout the state of CT, primarily with the pediatric population. Kendra transitioned to a full-time clinical instructor in 2024 and continues teaching students both in the off-campus clinical setting as well as on-campus in the simulation lab. In addition to her clinical teaching, she also served for many years as an American Heart Association instructor teaching Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), as well as serving as an instructor and course director for the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) through the Emergency Nurse’s Association. Kendra gives back to her community by volunteering as a National Ski Patroller and shares her healthcare expertise by teaching new and existing patrollers. During her undergraduate nursing program, she participated in a clinical immersion experience to Guyana, South America. She looks forward to continuing to bring her pediatric expertise to her students and the nursing program and exploring new nursing education opportunities such as working with underserved communities again.
