Improving Sleep in College Students: An Educational Intervention
This pilot study applies the scientific knowledge of sleep and education interventions and aims to improve sleep in college students. The education interventions (independent variable) of a one time in person education session and twice weekly emails over 10 weeks are intended to improve sleep knowledge, sleep hygiene, sleep quality and sleep quantity (dependent variables). Measures include the Pittsburgh Sleep Timing Questionnaire (sleep quantity), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (sleep quality), Assessment of Sleep Knowledge in Medical Education (sleep knowledge), the Sleep Hygiene Practice Scale (sleep hygiene practices) and demographic data. An experimental design among first year college student is planned with repeated measures ANOVA.
